Many of you have seen our friend Bob selling off a large part of his collection. Some have speculated that it's due to some kind of fall out between he and Ken. That is NOT the case at all. Unfortunately Bob is going through a divorce the details of which are a very personal matter, but he is selling off a good number of knives.
How does that effect the Onion market? Is the Onion market "crashing"? The market is incredibly active right now. People buying Bob's knives trying to make a quick buck. People seeing Onions on the market and getting scared that it's crashing and selling them off as quickly as possible. I see all of this as a transient in the market. Once it settles out, there will be many more collectors who will have Ken's knives in their hands. They will see what it's all about. They will attend shows, and try to score something new to add to their collection. The current state of things may weed out many of the "flippers". That's a good thing as far as I'm concerned; more chance for the real collectors to try to get something from Ken at a show.
It's very regretable that Bob has to sell off so much of his treasured collection, but he has a great outlook on the future and I look foward to seeing him and the rest of the crew in Chicago.
