    Guns- Only what I shoot.
Watches- Can't afford them, trying to buy more guns and knives.
Cigars- I do have a few nice Fuentes in the humidor.
Pens-I only have the ones I use to write tickets.

    George,

Please no "homage" Panerai's (or anything else here).

I understand that family comes first, and trust me, I know now much school costs - I've been in college for a while I sent you email, but maybe it's better to share with everyone.

Here's my take on "homage" anythings. Homage is a euphemism for what we tend to refer to as a knock-off. I once had a $25 Panerai look a like. It didn't say "Panerai" on it anywhere, but it was made to look like a Panerai. Some companies have basically taken a trademarked design/look and copied it with no agreement with the original designer, no royalties paid for the innovation. You can see where this starts to hit home in relation to Ken's knives being knocked off left and right. I would never throw a knock-off Onion in my pocket, so why would I put a knock-off watch on my wrist. I got rid of it and wore a real Timex Ironman. A very good friend made me a deal on the 88, and I wear it not only because I think it looks good, but because it's a symbol of our friendship (the strap was made by another very good friend).

In terms of how this relates to the original purpose of this thread. I collect knives because they are not just objects or tools or art, but they represent a friendship that I have with the person who created it just for me. There are lots great makers out there, but in my limited years of collecting I realized I don't have enough money to collect everything I like, so I'll just collect pieces from the PEOPLE I like.

We all collect what we like, but at some level there is a certain pride in ownership. To some degree, to be able to show off your new toy to your buddy. I take a lot of pride in the stories that go with all of the toys I've been fortunate enough to own; if there was no story or no pride, it'd just be a piece of junk (maybe really nice or expensive junk) collecting dust somewhere.

While knives are my main passion I also enjoy some other collecting hobbies. A few years back I was introduced to custom hand made marbles. I have always liked glass colors but never knew custom marbles exsisted. There is allot of very common traits with custom knives and marbles with the skill level needed to get to the top.

I have gone to a few custom marble shows and its identical to knives with the buying/selling and tradeing of them. Drew Fritts and Kris Parke are my 2 favorite marble makers and I have done some trades with both of them for one of my custom knives for some of there custom marbles. So far my collection consists of about a half dozen makers and I am up to 40+ marbles. I now need to make a display case for them. Pricing on custom Marbles range from $20 to $300 each, depending on complexity, makers name/reputation etc.

Heres a few pics for your viewing pleasure. And if your wondering, no I havent lost my marbles yet!

Hey George, nice watches I gotta admit I've never heard of most of those. We like a nice watch or 2 ourselves. Forgive us if we have a thing against "homage" PAM's, you can see why.
